Rebecca

Author:Daphne Du Maurier
Genre: Horror, Mystery, Romance
Rating: ★★★★★

In my summer holidays, I read a Horror/Mystery novel called Rebecca. There was romance in it as well as many unexpected twists which were very enjoyable.

“Last night I dreamt I went to Manderly again” is this book’s famous opening line. The moment I saw the cover of this book, it looked scary and interesting as it was a dark cover and my eyes got struck to the book very quickly. The first bit was pretty boring to be honest, but after you read the first chapter, it becomes so intriguing and you just can’t stop reading. You would think that Rebecca is the main character as it is the name of the title, but actually it isn’t although Rebecca is an important part of the book.

I really liked the author’s technique of not mentioning the main Character’s name so that the reader could think and wonder about why it isn’t mentioned e.t.c. This book has many twists and I was surprised that the whole story changed at the end because of an unpredictable twist. *spoiler alert!* I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I recommend it you so you can live through the experience I lived in this breathtaking story!

Ally Condie

Genre: Romance, Science Fiction

Rate: 5 out of 5 ★★★★★

This book takes place in the future, in “the Society”. In the Society, “the Officials” decide who you marry, where you work, when you die. Cassia, the main character of the book, gets “Matched”(similar to being engaged) with the boy she has known all her life, Xander, but she starts to have certain feelings for Ky, a mysterious boy that lives near her. Cassia has to choose between her Match, who is her best friend; or Ky, who knows things she doesn’t, which makes him more interesting. Cassia is in a very difficult situation, because choosing Xander would mean a perfect life; and choosing Ky would mean a life filled with adventures. Who would Cassia choose in the end…?

Ellie explains about her own imaginary boyfriend Dan,(which is not the real Dan) and shows the love notes,(which they are not love notes, just a letter) to prove they are “in a relationship” Ellie hated he self because she couldn’t tell the truth to their best friends, she lies to everyone and cries about it all day. She wishes every time, she wants her mother back, which died when she was young, and wants an advice, not from the step mother Anna. What will happen to the girls next? Will Ellie really gets a boyfriend??

Comment: I love this author’s book series. I’ve already read Double Act, Bad Girl, Girls in Tears, Girls out Late. They are all  funny, romantic and always has a happy ending. This book “Girl in Love” was the most fantastic book I ever read in Jacqueline’s books. It was funny, it made me laugh the part Ellie lies to everyone and describes her own imaginary boyfriend. There is also a bit scary part, but still it’s full of romance in the last. I would definitely recommend this book to all young teenage girls, about twelve to thirteen, fourteen. I would like to “Girls in Tears” next!

Twilight series – Breaking dawn

Author:

Genre:

Rate: ★★★☆☆

Breaking dawn is the fourth and the last book from the Twilight series.

Breaking dawn  was the climax of the twilight series, so the story was very

fast-moving and it was enjoyable.

In this book, Bella and Edward finally decides to marry, and they goes

for a honeymoon to Brazil. During the honeymoon, Bella realizes that

she is pregnant, and the baby seemed to be half vampire and half human.

The story continues about the baby`s growth, and Bella`s relationship

with Jacob and her father.

Breaking dawn was very enjoyable, and it is also going to be a movie

in February 2012.

But the bad point is that the book is too long, and since there are many

difficult words and phrases, it might be a bit hard for young children.

Comment: When I started reading, it said in the beginning “I’d never given much thought to how much I would die-” This sentence made me have goose bumps. But at the same time, it made me want to read this book to the end. Many people might have seen the movie, but please try reading it!
