No More Dead Dogs

Author: Gordon Korman

Rate: ★★★☆☆

Summary: Wallace has never lied before. He`s on the football team for his school but is a bench warmer. But the reason why the team could win the championships last year with Wallace`s amazing touchdown. He got famous after the play but he`s kicked off the team for his bad grades. He has to do after school detention with his teacher, but his teacher is the school drama club`s director and Wallace has to stay while the drama club practices and rehearses. But at the rehearsals, accidents keep happening and it always frames Wallace as the criminal. Can he prove the drama club that he’s innocent?

Comments: I like this book because Wallace has a sarcastic side to him, and that makes the book more entertaining. The author has narrated this book as if the characters are actually talking to you. As an example, when the teenage kids tells the story, they use more slang words and when an adult, such as the principal,  they use more formal words. So I thought that was interesting also. I recommend this book to anyone since this book is short and written for fourth to sixth grade students.

Schooled

Author: Gordon Korman

Rate: ★★★★☆

Summary: A boy named Cap (short for Capricorn) Anderson is a hippie living with his grandmother, Rain. Rain homeschools Cap until she falls from a ladder while picking plums. Cap now has to go to the nearest public school, Claverage Middle School, to get his education. But at the school, everybody teases him because of his moppy hair and tie-die clothes. Spit balls are thrown right in his hair and there are pranks for him everywhere… Can Cap live through his teen life?

Review: When I first finished this book, it made me want to try to be nicer like Cap. I love the ending and how the author wrote this book. The cover has a meaning to it too and I thought it was cool. I wouldn`t say this is the best book I`ve ever read but it is one of the best in my opinion. I would recommend this book to anybody since this is short and easy to read.

The Heroes of Olympus: The Son of Neptune

Title: The Heroes of Olympus:The Son of Neptune

Author: Rick Riordan

Rate: ★★★★★

Summary: Percy Jackson is not at Camp Half-Blood, and he has a feeling that he should not be at this place. He doesn’t remember anything but the name “Annabeth”. People tell him that he’s at the Roman camp for demigods. The leader tells Percy that a guy named Jason Grace is gone but he”s got no clue who that guy is. In his dreams, Percy sees Annabeth, a one-eyed guy and a guy with the feet a sheep. If he only knew what they were saying… Well after that Frank, a guy at the Roman Camp, is sent to a quest to defeat  giant, and Percy goes along to find out who he is. A girl named Hazel comes along too, and she was actually dead until a guy named Nico said she deserved another chance. Can they find and defeat the giant? And can Percy find out who he is?

Comments: This is the second book of the Heroes of Olympus series. The first book is The Lost Hero. I personally like the second book better since it’s about Percy Jackson and I like Percy better than Jason (the main character in The Lost Hero). These series are very interesting because of how Rick Riordan writes. He writes each chapter from a different character’s view-point. In one chapter, he’ll write from Percy’s point of view and in another chapter, he writes from Hazel’s view-point. I think it is a very good idea because you get to read what each character is feeling at different scenes. I think Rick Riordan is such a talented writer and I read almost every one of his books. They are just so good and leaves you wanting more after each page. I’d recommend this book to anybody who likes reading the Percy Jackson series or is interested in reading them.

The Heroes of Olympus: The Lost Hero

Title: The Heroes of Olympus:The Lost Hero

Author: Rick Riordan

Rate: ★★★★★

Summary: Jason wakes up in a bus full of kids on a field trip, but something is wrong. He doesn’t know who he is, what he’s doing, or why he’s holding hands with a gorgeous girl whom says her name is Piper. He’s taken to Camp-Half Blood along with Piper and his “so-called” friend Leo. Jason, though, has a feeling he’s on enemy ground while in Camp-Half Blood. Jason is sent to a quest where he has to stop Gaea from waking up from her long sleep. If he succeeds on the quest, he can get his memory back. On the way, he finds out he has to save Piper’s dad too. In their quest, the three find that their friendship got stronger.

Comment: I think this book was brilliant, just like all of Rick Riordan’s other books. It was a non-stop adventure to me, and I loved it. I like this book because I find Greek Mythology very fun to learn about and Riordan makes it even more fun. I also like this book because we can learn about the characters that were in The Lightning Thief Series again. This book makes you feel the excitement you felt while reading those series. I recommend this book to anyone, because it’s so fun and easy to read and makes you want to read more.
