One of the books I read is one of the Percy Jackson series, “The Lightning Thief.” The author is called Rick Riordan. He writes many great fantasy books.
The summary is about a kid called Percy Jackson, and he is a half blood. A half blood is a person that is half human, half god. He goes to a camp called Camp Half Blood at the Half Blood Hill, with a half goat Grover. Percy finds out that he is a half blood, but at first nobody didn’t know who Percy’s god parent was. But when he used his ability, an ability that he could control water and gets strength, he was determined that he was son of the sea-god, Poseidon. He had a hard time first being alone in his lonely cabin, but he got used to it, and it was better for him. There is a cabin that is separated with who your god or goddess is. And Percy was alone at the Poseidon cabin. After a couple of days or so, Zeus’s ( the god of the lightning) lightning bolt was stolen Percy was blamed for the stealer. Zeus tells him to bring back the bolt to Mount Olympus. Percy sets out on a quest to retrieve Zeus’s master bolt, which is believed to be in Hades’s captivity in the Underworld. Helping Percy are Grover, his BFF, and Annabeth, a smart demi-goddess and daughter of Athena. The three take a bus, a train, a truck, and a taxi cab to make their way across America, from New York to Los Angeles, where the gates of the Underworld are located. They stop in St. Louis, Denver, and Las Vegas along the way. During their quest, they battle monsters like Medusa, they find disaster on the observation deck of the Gateway Arch, they are tricked by the god of war (Ares), they nearly lose their memories in an enchanted Vegas casino, and they are almost stretched to death. In the Underworld where Hades is,( Percy thinks he stole the bolt.) he says to give him back but the bolt magically appears in his back pack. Hades said his helm of darkness was stolen, so Percy fights Ares and gets it back and he returns it to Hades and meets Zues and Poseidon, and tells everything and goes back to camp and decides if he’s going to stay or go home.On the last day of camp, Percy is lured into the woods by his friend, Luke. Luke confesses to Percy that he was the original thief of the master bolt and the helm of darkness.Luke vanishes, leaving a deadly scorpion to sting Percy. Percy nearly dies from this scorpion bite, but is rescued by wood nymphs who take him to safety. Percy’s teacher, Chiron, nurses him back to health. Percy decides to go home and live with his mother for his seventh-grade year
I think it is a great book. It’s full of wonder and excitement. If you read this book, you won’t be able to stop yourself. Rick Riordan writes the book easy to read, so you can read fast than you think. If you like to read this book, just try it and see if you like it or not!
